Exploring Chikmagalur: A Perfect Two-Day Getaway from Bangalore

Exploring Chikmagalur: A Perfect Two-Day Getaway from Bangalore

Nestled in the lap of the Western Ghats, Chikmagalur is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers. My journey to this coffee land was nothing short of mesmerizing, with misty hills, gushing waterfalls, and thrilling treks making it a perfect weekend escape.

Journey to Chikmagalur

I boarded an early morning electric bus from Bangalore, and the six-hour ride was smooth and comfortable. The cool December breeze added to the excitement as I made my way to this beautiful hill station.

Exploring Day 1: Peaks and Waterfalls

Upon reaching Chikmagalur, I rented a scooty to explore the town at my own pace. The first stop was Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka. The ride uphill was thrilling, with winding roads offering breathtaking views. The chilly wind at the peak made the experience even more exhilarating.

Next, I visited Baba Budangiri, a place known for its historical and spiritual significance. The drive to this scenic hill range was equally stunning. After soaking in the panoramic views, I headed towards Jhari Waterfalls, also known as Buttermilk Falls. The cascading water, surrounded by lush greenery, was a sight to behold. The off-road ride to the falls was quite an adventure in itself!

Day 2: A Refreshing Dip and a Thrilling Trek

Day two began with a visit to Hebbe Waterfalls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Chikmagalur. The trek to reach the falls was rewarding, and taking a dip in the cold, refreshing water was the perfect way to start the day.

Later, I trekked to Z Point, a well-known vantage point offering panoramic views of the hills. The trek was moderately challenging, but the view from the top was worth every step. The cool December air made the climb even more enjoyable.

Stay and Expenses

I stayed at Trippr Chikmagalur, a slightly expensive stay due to the peak season, but it was worth it for the comfort and experience.

Final Thoughts

Chikmagalur in December is a dream destination for anyone looking for a refreshing getaway. The blend of adventure, serenity, and natural beauty makes it an unforgettable experience. If you're planning a trip, be ready for some thrilling rides, scenic treks, and soul-soothing waterfalls!

Would I visit again? Absolutely!
