Experience the magic of Kasol: a paradise for backpackers !
Recently in November, I traveled to Kasol, which is located in Parvati Valley. I booked a hostel in Parvati Valley, as it offers budget-friendly rooms for backpackers. The trip lasted four days and was mostly spent riding scooters. Kasol is a beautiful place, surrounded by mountains and lush greenery. It is known for its hippie culture and is a popular destination for Israelis. I will now share the itinerary and things to do in Kasol for a short trip.
We took a bus from MKT to Bhuntar, and from there, a Sumo was provided by the bus carrier. The scenic beauty of the mountains is always captivating.
- Places to visit around Kasol: Since it was a short trip, I tried to cover all the major tourist attractions. The first day started with a visit to Manikaran Sahib. We also visited the nearby Shiva Temple. The hot water spring was a unique experience for me, as rice is prepared using the hot spring water. After spending about half an hour there, we headed to Tosh. Tosh is located at an elevation of about 2,400 meters on a mountain slope along the right bank of the Parvati River. To reach Tosh, one needs to stop at Barshaini and then trek for about half an hour. The beauty of this place is that you can see the clear sky and enjoy star gazing at night. Due to its height, the snowline is also easily visible. In my opinion, Tosh is a must-visit place as it offers tranquility and peace for the mind and soul.
- Another recommended place to visit is Grahan Village. This village is situated in the mountains at an altitude of 7,700 ft. Although we did not complete the trek, we sat by the river stream for about an hour. The only sound we could hear was the chirping of birds and the crystal-clear water flowing down the river. I highly recommend this place if you love nature and seclusion. Please keep in mind that the road to Grahan Village is bumpy and not properly paved, making it quite difficult to ride.
- Kulga Village is another highly recommended place in Kasol. Kalga is a village in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is located at an elevation of about 2,280 m in the Parvati Valley, surrounded by mountains. The nearest bus stand is Barshaini.
- Also, visited a very remote location where we hardly saw any people. During our trip, we had the opportunity to visit a highly sought-after café called Holy Cow Café, located at the hilltop. I will be writing a blog about this café later as it truly deserves to be described. Additionally, I forgot to mention that renting a scooty cost us around INR 2000 for four days.
- We tried a variety of cafes during our visit. For breakfast, I tried the Spanish option which was quite healthy and included veggies, toast, and jam. I would also recommend trying the Israeli Falfal. There are many other options available as well, such as Namaste and Shubham Dhaba for parathas and Shambhu Momo Corner for momos, ATS Cafe Kasol.
